Companion Rescue Refresher
This Companion Rescue Refresher is designed to help those that have done the AST – 1 but have become a bit rusty with their tools. We will re-introduce the fundamentals of transceiver use, the latest search methods, review effective probing and the most up to date shovelling techniques. This 1 day course is a great way to hone those skills and set you up for success in the mountains if the worst happens.
The Companion Rescue Refresher takes place entirely in the field, giving you hands-on time with your gear in realistic mountain terrain around Invermere and the Columbia Valley. Expect a fast-paced, practical day that mirrors the pressure and decision-making of a real incident. You’ll revisit rescue fundamentals while learning the latest techniques and equipment updates recommended by Avalanche Canada — all under the guidance of certified instructors who work these slopes all winter long.
