What is included?
A comprehensive on-line tutorial with testing after each module is complete to make sure you understand the important info. This “work at your pace” tutorial is full of great information as well as links to definitions, videos and more. We highly recommend each student clicks all the links to get the best value!
1.5 days in the field! This is above and beyond the standard as we want to make sure that our students get the best possible education and value from this course (please note, online course must be complete before joining the field portion)

What do I bring?
3 antena digital transceiver, avalanche probe, avalanche shovel and backpack to carry these tools and other gear. (Rentals are available at Columbia Cycle)
Ski/Splitboard touring set up complete with touring capable bindings & skins. Note: If you do not have these tools you may not get the most benefit from this program. (These tools are mandatory for our Kimberley courses)
Lift ticket for the day at Panorama. We have access to a discounted 1 ride lift ticket for the purposes of this AST course. Our Kimberley program will have a similar ticket.
Transportation to and from the field day locations.
Suitable clothing for a full day in backcountry winter conditions
Lunch, hot drink and snacks
Ability to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level. This is skiing a Blue run with confidence in all conditions, at a minimum.
Are there age restrictions?
Our avalanche safety courses are designed for ages 12 and up due to the duration and terrain. If you have questions about age restrictions, reach out to our team.
